MMORPG

Actually we've been playing on private servers of RO for the past few weeks. We've had some good experiences, and some bad experiences. One server got hacked, but the servers we tried migrating to just weren't as fun. So we're giving that a rest for a while.

I've been downloading and trying new MMORPGs. Free ones. :D Of particular note, I'm downloading a game called Hero Online. Now that we have DSL the download should finish in a few hours from now (it's only about 400 MB). It looks awesome, but I have a particular problem with not being able to customize character appearances except through armor (like Khan Online), which is a bad thing, because eventually people will end up wearing the same thing, especially at high levels. Even worse is that characters seem limited to weapon/class proficiencies. So later on, you'll end up seeing a lot of look-alikes. What looks good, though, is the battle system, and the fact that it was written by martial arts novelists.

I'm also going to check out another NetGame product, Ares Online. This one is more Western-based, and has the customizeable character features, which is an immediate plus. Only having four classes may not be so cool, though. But they have a war system where you can fight people from the opposing country to gain territory for your own country, and gain rank within your country (sort of like RF Online). It looks good so far, but from the sound of things, it'll be a terrible grind. I just hope it's fun enough for us to ignore the grind.

I also tried a game called Pirate King Online. This game sounded like fun on paper, but I had several problems as a newbie. Let's just say that even early on, it becomes a grind if you don't quest, and it's very reliant on parties. It's not very newbie-friendly (at least, I didn't feel welcome, nor did I necessarily enjoy myself, which is rare whenever I try a new MMORPG, because I always look for the good points in games). The game was unable to hold me long enough to level my character to level 15, which is when I can get my first boat. I might try playing again to try getting that boat sometime, but right now I'm a little frustrated with it.

Finally, b-boy news. :D I got a few James Brown songs, and other great b-boy music, so I have more of a songbase now. I also got better at a lot of moves, and it's hard to enumerate them all. Let's just say I have a lot more routines now.

That's all I got for now.
