THE DISTANT FUTURE...
THE DISTANT FUTURE...
THE YEAR 2000...
THE DISTANT FUTURE...

I've witnessed the entrance of yet another year on this world. Can you believe it's 2008 already? It feels like it was just yesterday when everybody was abuzz with the Y2K bug. Suddenly, it's 8 years in front of that, and only two years away from a new decade. We call this 00's part "the new millenium". What'll we call the new decade, though? The 10's? Y2K.01? I honestly don't know. We might actually stop calling eras by decades by then, and just start naming the years specifically. It won't be "the early 2010's". It'll be specifically 2012.

Anyway, this year we saw less fireworks in the sky, compared to last year. Even our rich neighbors who put up a lot of pyrotechnics last year were pretty conservative this year. The best display from our nearby neighbors was one set of those colorful cannon things that shoot out low rockets that blow up into various colors. I dunno what it's called. It's slightly sadder than usual, as a result, at least to me. But the bright side is, there's probably less accidents this year too, I hope.

Thinking back on my blog entries this year, I've noticed that there are two major themes that I can draw from. The first one is thinking back, nostalgia. The second one is change.

At the start of the year I was getting nostalgic with all the old anime songs that I used to love. Put them in my playlists and many of them are in my "Super Select" playlist, which involves all the songs that I'm convinced I'll never get tired of hearing, so I can listen to them absolutely any time.

In the middle of the year, one of the biggest changes in my life was taking place, when I took up training for TESOL and EPAT, in my steps towards becoming a teacher. Later that summer solstice, I actually went on an English camp, which was my first formal teaching experience.

Towards the end of the year, a mix of both. I got hired for my first full-time job as an English teacher in U.P. Diliman for Korean students, and the nostalgia comes from the NicoNico medley, and especially 思い出は億千万 (Omoide wa Okkusenman; 110,000,000 memories).

So I'm about to start on my new job, which kinda rocks my world, taking me out of the comfort of my home for most of the week (I'll be out of the house for about 13 hours a day, Monday to Friday). I'm excited, anxious and nervous all at once. Mostly because it's a huge change. I have a three-month contract right off the bat.

My new year's resolution? I'll strive to better my patience. I need it greatly.

I pray that this year will be full of awesomeness, even more than any previous year.
