Kingdom of Heaven & Playoffs 2005
5/15/2005 11:41:00 午後

Ah yes. Last Saturday was the JCone event. We were there before 11 AM, to help set up. Abby's in the Designing Arts Ministry, so they're responsible for making the little designs and motifs and stuff, you know, for the stage. So I was there too, to help. And they really needed help. They just barely finished the work before 3 PM, which was when everyone was to stop working because the people were going to arrive soon after. The event itself was a success as I saw, though none of the friends I invited except Cat (who was invited by Abby anyway) actually went there... Joiz was supposed to come but she became shy (*sad*). Ah well, I'm still encouraged by the fact that when we invited them, Dairyu and Frank were actually excited to go.

Next, we watched Kingdom of Heaven today, at the Podium. It's actually my first time to watch a movie there, because I don't really go to the Podium to hang out often. The theater was a lot smaller and cozier than I expected, but was very comfortable, and felt like a private theater really (you know, the kind that rich people that live in huge estates might have if they're into that sort of thing). The movie was good. Not favorite-movie material for me, but I can't complain. I thought at first that the movie was about the Crusade of King Richard the Lionheart, but it wasn't. It was about the events that lead to King Richard's Crusade. Still good though.

I witnessed Miami sweep the 2nd round series against the Wizards today too. What a game. At first, up to the fourth quarter, it was all Miami. They were up by at least 10 points for a long time, then they went cold, and the Wizards caught fire, and actually took the lead close to the end of the game. But Miami rallied back, and the Wizards couldn't make a comeback, and thus ends their season. Miami is Abby's favorite NBA team.

While playing Ez2Dancer today, some guy with a camera took our picture. It was a candid shot, and the only reason I noticed was because of the flash. Interesting. You know, I got that a lot with the old machine like 3 years ago, but that's the first time anyone's taken my (or our) picture on this new machine. Oh, it's a little broken though. The left player's left step is a little weak, causing many a miss on songs that require a lot of left steps of course. I hope they fix it.

Sunday worship's message really hit the spot for me. Last Friday, I asked my DGroup leader for some advice and/or encouragement (regarding sin). He gave me good advice, and told me to read Psalms 103, which I did. That alone was already very touching to me. Then Sunday worship's message made a mention of a couple of verses from the same chapter. It really boosted me up, and I feel much better, and much more able to serve the LORD. I've henceforth decided to try to memorize Psalms 103.

Psalm 103

Of David.
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-

3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.

7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:

8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.

9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;

10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;

12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass,
he flourishes like a flower of the field;

16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.

17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the LORD's love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children's children-

18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.

19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.

20 Praise the LORD, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.

21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.

22 Praise the LORD, all his works
everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the LORD, O my soul.

Beautiful, no? And it really helps you understand how God is, how He works, etc.

Lastly, CCF's sports ministry is going to hold a badminton tournament in June, and I'm going to sign up (if you didn't know, I used to be a pretty good badminton player, now I dunno lolx). So all of you who want to and can watch, please do!
